The Alaska Psychiatric Association is a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association, a medical specialty society representing more than 35,000 physician leaders in mental health.

The objectives of the Alaska Psychiatric Association are to continuously improve the ability of its members to provide quality psychiatric services to individuals and families in need. The Association also strives to promote the welfare of all those with mental illness and to foster the medically based principles of psychiatry.

With 76 district branches and state associations throughout the United States and Canada, your local APA District Branch/State Association provides the necessary contacts you need to remain a leader in psychiatry. Your APA District Branch may offer professional development opportunities, networking and continuing educational programs, newsletters, and even state-level lobbying efforts for the advancement of psychiatry. The APA and the District Branches/State Associations have a dual membership requirement.
